REIKI: HEALING AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH

What Is Reiki?

Reiki is not just a universal energy system, it is most probably the most popular healing system in the world.  Founded by Mikao Usui in Japan, Reiki it has taken on many Eastern Philosophies in its practises, but it’s not a religion.

It is easy to learn, and anyone can do it, yet I often find Reiki is easily misunderstood.  Beyond the seemingly ease and simpleness of this system, there actually lies great depth, and when you begin to explore Reiki, you begin an incredible journey.

Reiki is a healing AND a personal development system.  It is about connecting to your divine source, the all-knowing part of you that allows for balance, harmony and peace to reign in your life.

The system of Reiki provides us with spiritual guidelines to live by:

*Meditations to help us connect (or re-connect) to our inner power, a hands-on healing method for wellbeing

*Shirushi (symbol) and jumon (mantras) to help us find our balance

*Reiju and attunements for energetic blessings  – all of which support us in being healthy, happy and whole

Reiki helps you to build energy flow through the meridians in your body and to strengthen your haras. Reiki helps by clearing the body emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually.  It helps us to raise our vibration level to become lighter and lighter. And it helps us shed the human ties, or the veils of illusion, to become one with the cosmic divine.

In Japanese writing (kanji) Reiki is made up of two individual Kanji

Rei  = spiritual (in Western culture, this has also be translated as Universal)

Ki = energy

Essentially, Reiki is a universal energy system that transforms and heals the body, mind and soul in a holistic, all-encompassing manner.

After using Reiki with many clients, I began to notice a pattern – your state of physical ease (or disease) is attributed to your emotional and mental state. One of the most effective ways of healing, is to treat yourself holistically – that is, take into account the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects.  This has been how I have overcome many challenges myself, changed my mindset beliefs, created more energy and momentum in my life, and overall created a sense of peace, contentment and happiness both within my own life and that of my clients.

This is not to say that your life will always be perfect.  No, far from it, as you are here to learn and grow.  But with Reiki and understanding yourself more, you will deal with gentle swells as opposed to massive waves crashing down on you.  Quite frankly, I like it much better this way.

I believe that everything around us is energy, even the thoughts and belief patterns we have about ourselves.  The question is, are these energies light, supportive, loving and healing, or are they heavy, dense slow or even stagnant energies?

You have full control of your life, even though sometimes we don’t want to admit to this.  When life is not perfect, it’s easier to blame someone else.  But in reality, it’s our own beliefs, thoughts, actions and pre-determined lessons that make up our life the way it is now.  You can consciously choose how your life is, or you can allow your unconscious thoughts to dictate it for you.

Tip –Start a “swear jar”, except instead of adding a set amount of money into the jar every time you swear, add money into the jar every time you have a negative thought!

You would be surprised how quickly your “Negative Thought Jar” fills up.  The first time I did this, I put enough money into the jar to pay for a holiday, which really surprised me because I had never thought of myself as negative.  But it was an invaluable lesson to me in how many unconscious thoughts I was having that were not beneficial to me at all.
